29. Infectious Diseases: Challenges and Solutions

Jacqueline K. Owens, MSN, RN, CNS, COHN-S is currently enrolled in the Joint PhD in Nursing (JPDN) program at Kent State University and the University of Akron. She teaches in the BSN completion program at Ashland University, in Ashland, OH, and is the Editorial Assistant for OJIN. Her clinical experience includes critical care and occupational health nursing. Jackie received a Diploma in Nursing from Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Warren, OH; a BSN from Ashland University; and an MSN from Kent State University in Kent, OH. Her dissertation area of interest is disaster response nursing. She volunteers on a local Community Emergency Response Team and has taken and taught classes in disaster response nursing. Jackie has co authored articles on online educational strategies, mentoring, and eye injuries, and served as a peer reviewer. Other areas of interest include nursing recruitment and elementary aged children; mentoring; electronic resources, publication, and information management; eye injuries; and burn care.
